I’ve just received an email from an agency purporting to represent management at JLR but when I started to complete it it asked me to make statements about ethnicity and sexuality “to assist with recruitment” at JLR............The survey also states that I will be requested to make short videos for internal recruitment purpose “that may be used to make longer videos purely for internal use” I don’t think anybody who has purchased a vehicle could possibly see how this info has anything to do with JLR and have forwarded the email to LRCS for comment as it could be some sort of phishing threat. Will try to post the email but not sure how to. I would suggest that if you receive an email with subject “Land Rover Defender Research” you read it very carefully and don’t answer the personal questions it asks as they have nothing at all to do with LR.
The email address sending out the mail is LandRoverDefender@simpcar.co.uk Here’s the email Click image to enlarge Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Thanks Steve
They are, but why are they asking them in the first place, I would thought totally irrelevant to purchasing or market research. As soon as you decline to answer the survey shuts down! Tim - it's simple really, your data is worth £, the more they have the better!
Surveys/data mining/phishing, I figure it's all much the same apart from intention/legality. And yes, I'm a cynic - no Google/Apple listening devices in my House! |

When I saw the thread title I thought you meant that only weird owners were being surveyed.

I suspect that by any conventional measure there are more weirdos amongst the owners of the classic Defender than the new, but that's no reason for you guys to stop trying - it's good to have dreams!

Before answering any questions to anyone, you should ask yourself 'What's in it for me?'
Most of the time the answer is nothing. Sometimes there is a brief whiff of a £50 Amazon Voucher (or whatever) that no one ever finds out who wins. Every time, your time and your personal data is being provided to a company / organisation where you have no control over where that information goes to or is sent to, or used by. Sorry if you believe that the data protection act will save you. It was a good piece of legislation, but mostly unenforceable. Every now and again you see a big company being fined an amount of money which is usually a drop in their lavish corporate accountancy ocean which tries to make it look good. The questions are usually loaded so however hard you try, the product or company comes up smelling of roses. Tim, that email deserved to be eaten by your spam folder |

I remember when I bought the Disco years back I received a large envelope with pages of questions , I just filled in name, age, address and telephone number accompanied by a letter stating the other questions were not relevant . Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |
