Are after market ink cartridges any help to keep the cost down?

If mainly doing B&W, get a laser printer - many decent ones by Samsung, Brother or HP
Similar issue to inkjet - you pay for the toner which comes in a cartridge which includes the roller but the per cost page is pennies compared to ink jet I have a Samsung ML-2851ND - old now but still going strong You can always get a separate printer for colour if needed - often cheaper to keep B7W and colour separate |

Never had a good experience with spoof cartridges and Epsom so always buy genuine albeit in bulk to try and keep costs sensible

If you are mainly doing b&w the a cheap laser printer is the cheapest and best solution.
I bought a Brother laser printer for about £60 many years ago. It is still going strong and I have only had to purchase 2 cartridges. The high cost of ink and the amount used in inkjet printers is due to the head cleaning process which wastes a lot of ink, particularly if the printer is not used regularly. This does not happen with laser printers. You do need to be careful with sticky labels in laser printers though. |

Another thumbs up for low cost b & w laser printers.
Our first (Brother) lasted 7 years regular use, only needed 3 cartridge changes. Now into year 3 with second printer (Lexmark) and still using original cartridge, used less frequently, but no blocked heads or other issues when left unused for weeks. Lost the use of several expensive colour printers during same period. It started with a kiss, never thought it would come to this. SIII CSW Safari, limestone, (JAC 914N). Where is she now? For just standard paper and black on white I use Dymo label writer, they take various size of labels which come on a roll.
I have had mine for years, the programme allows the user to create address lists. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to ![]() Richard |

its a 3rd party online address system that then prints onto A4.........
might look at laser printer then and put the Epson to one side for other odd jobs / think part of the issue isn't lack of use but the fact that the office is very cold at times and seems to mess with the quality |
