Yes, it’s fairly common whatever aerial set up you have. It’s more due to patchy signal areas rather than pick up of signal of your system.
I still tend to find FM signals are more reliable and less likely to drop off than DAB. WeWillWin🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

The DAB on my radio is connected to the original Land Rover aerial with a DAB aerial splitter and generally the signal isn’t to bad, but still have drop outs here and there.

I use a Digital aerial splitter same as DAZ110, it’s not too bad does drop out occasionally but we have plenty of hills in Derbyshire!
I found if I go towards Notts/Lincolnshire it hardly ever drops out. Cheers Will 2005 90 XS 1954 86'' Series 1 tilt 1968 88” 2A 200tdi 2002 110 Hardtop |

I tried a splitter but got fed up and have now switched to a DAB aerial (oddly flexible in the breeze
![]() TBH although it's better it still has drop-outs in the Chiltern Hills. I agree with above comments about the issue being the DAB signal ![]() 1998 300TDi Wolf TUM 2015 2.2 Corris Grey 90 2009 2.4 Alaska White 110 Commercial - gone 2006 TD5 Barolo Black 90 - gone 1995 TD5 Green 90 - gone 1984 2.25 Marine Blue 88 |

And I clicked onto this thread hoping to find a solution to the eternal problem!
I can´t offer a better solution, but only share the annoyance at how inconsistent DAB reception is. Sometimes brilliant, but often on the move, that annoying blackout two second followed by a repeat of what went before. Like listeening to a stuttering newsreader. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTs, Recaro CSs, anorak, wellingtons |

DAB is the radio equivalent of those horrid CFD light bulbs. Even now, it's more reliable to stream a radio station from your mobile phone using your mobile data. Only reason it isn't more widely used is the cost of data, but that's rapidly dropping.
