You need to run RCA cables from the preouts of the headunit to the sub.
As for the blue remote wire you have to run that from the back of the head unit to the sub. Im assuming the wires coming out the back of the head unit is a Alpine to ISO adaptor. These are available cheap so its not like youre destroying the unit if you cut the blue wire and run your own cable down. Im assuming the wires youre looking at the back of your head unit are this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alpine-16-Pin-I...Sw3ZpfnBRA The 'rem' connection on the head unit is for a remote i believe. What problem are you actually having? Is the sub powering on and not playing sound or is the sub not powering at all? |

The head unit has an ISO loom between the rear of the unit and the vehicle. The blue/white loose wire within this loom needs to be connected to the sub remote terminal with a length of wire. This turns the sub on and off with the head unit. Refer to first photograph.
On the rear of the head unit there are a pair of RCA’s. Connect these to the sub RCA’s with RCA cable of appropriate length. Refer to second photo Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge > 110 XS Double Cab |

Thanks very much for the info.
Factory fitted headunit so have a blue white remote in the harness headunit, will splice. I only received rca connectors to speaker wires green black and violet . Hence the confusion with rca whether to use to speakers or buy extension rca cable. Stefan , The headunit harness has only a single connection block, no piggy back/no spare wires!!! Thanks again Iain |

It sounds like you probably have the factory fitted sub wiring... I've never seen it but presumably there is a connector neat the cubby somewhere that has all the connections you need? > 110 XS Double Cab

Cheers for the welcome back message wild card 90.
I had the xs90 2012 in grey from new and loved it ! Then thought I could do better and bought a ranger rover 3 Ltr , how wrong can one person be!!! Engine blew up with 38 ooo on the clock 13 weeks of continuous arguments with Landrover, gave it away! Got a shogun swb , 17 plate too reliable no toys etc etc, 13000 miles in 3 years , very good vehicle - boring ! Guy selling a Epsom green 90 15 plate hard top, mentioned in the passing! I'll take I said and here we are again, shed loads o cash out on toys again Been to Landrover to use my warranty card on paintwork, as it's blistering all over the place. Spent dosh with uproar, Optimill engine 710 . Looking for interesting bumpers and rock sliders now Cheers Iain Backtodefenders |

Hank Cheers for the info, I pulled the harness out from the head unit and sliced the remote wire, green, purple, green black and purple black wires connected to the rca connectors white and red . I took the seats out and the cubby box to make sure I wasn't missing any hidden connections. Drilled the cubby and bolted the SWE11200 to the bank of it. Drilled the bottom of the cubby and fixed the amp to the underside of the cubby. Made up new wooded runners to heighten the cubby as the amp is 30 mm thick . Took a perm 12v feed from the fuse box under drivers seat. Bolted the earth on the seatbelt base. Ran the speaker wires green and purple also the remote blue white up the passenger foot well and then up the heating vent to the head unit opening . This was the easiest bit!!!!! Unplugged the harness and piggy backed the wires . Worked first time and sounded good. Bought new pioneer speakers for the rear and they are , when compared to the standard Land Rover ones 😳🙈 Can anyone tell me why this is and also suggest a 4 inch speaker that will sound better ????? Please Cheers for your help guys. Next job :: double din head for sat nav unit and change the dash also Iain |

Sounds like you’re all sorted then. I just fitted some focal components which I’m pleased with! See here https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic75049.html > 110 XS Double Cab

I use alpine type g speakers, the 4” in the front and the 5 1/4” with separate tweeters in the rear, you can modify the existing panel to make these fit. I imagine the focals are better quality but it depends on budget.

I recently fitted the Focal kit at the front and am very impressed. Because they produce really clean and crisp high frequencies, they work best combined with a subwoofer. A big improvement over stock LR 4“ and tweeters.
(As I get more and more annoyed by radio station bla bla I find myself listening to classical and jazz music in the car. It is easier to drive at a socially acceptable crawl with soothing music The improved quality of sound is very welcome. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTs, Recaro CSs, anorak, wellingtons |
