Wanted- inner tube for 235/85 R16
anyone know where I can get an inner tube for my Discoverer S/T tyre ... It's got a pinhole puncture in the edge of one of the side blocks and is too good to throw away ...

Tyre shop reckoned an inner tube would do the job but having trouble finding any ?

TIA

Jon

I have two (new) but there is no way you should put one in. its a last resort to get you home. For me anyway, small hole or not, if its on the side wall/block then its a new one. I'm amazed a tyre supplier would recommend you use an inner tube.

I'm with Mike on this one.

Do not use inner tubes with tubeless tyres. The inner tubes will rub on the inside of the tubeless tyre and will eventually pop.

Also if you have a crash and the Insurance company finds out, your insurance will become invalid.

Hi Jon

I have used Tadworth Tyre Specialists - www.tadworthtyres.co.uk - for any tyres that cannot be repaired by a normal fitter.

They repair and revulcanise the tyre. I have suffered from splits in the tread blocks (that open the tyyre to show the cord) due to flints we have in the south here as well as the usual nail/screw that is too close to the edge. As you say, too good to have to throw away

They normally need the tyre for a couple of days.

They can repair a tyre (car to tractor) up to an inch of the wheel rim

Telephone number is 01737-813694 - they are close to the Epsom race course.

Hope this helps

Mark

A bit closer to home....... If you not spoken to them already, try RCP at Great Milton. They sent a BFG AT of mine away to be revulcanised. Took a few days from memory.... Can't remember how close to the side wall you can get away with though....

If you are likely to be without a tyre for a few days and want a spare for peace of mind (tyre only, no spare rim I'm afraid ) , I've got some 235/85/16 GG TR's kicking around in the garage. Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.
