I don't have experience with this problem after disconnecting the battery. I have had the same problem and disconnecting the plugs from the ecu and connecting them again solved it. Roel

following the procedure in the manual. this is only to disarm BBSU not Immobilizer 1. with or with out key fob ? 2. all the fuse ok 3. Is the starter relay operating ? canter box fuse box working from passenger side (uk) first yellow relay starter |

Hey welcome fellow Canuck from BC. You should not have had any issues disconnecting a battery on a Td5 and not starting. something else has likely gone amiss.
Does your fuel pump whine when you turn the key before dull start? Is the battery properly connected? Is it properly charged? Check fuses and relays for activation. As posted by Dorset-smith unless you disconnected something else it should just fire up. Do you have shop manuals? Did you mesure voltage of your new battery ? Take a look ot your fuses. I'm on a Puma with the 10AS - I never respect the battery replacement procedure nor does the car if battery runs flat. No issues ever since. I bet on something else being the issue |

Well, I’ve tried all your suggestions. It seems to me that all relays are working. I can hear the fuel pump whirling away. There is nothing when I turn the key from position two to three. 12 V in the battery and I rechecked the connections.

Try multiple tuen on start sequences on off on off on off. If might work. Worst case scenario try a bump start....I bet it will work. If no joy, pull your starter motor. The solenoid is likely shot. This is a common problem with older Td5s and an easy fix. The solenoid contacts wear out. Happened to mine when I picked it up at the autoport and drove it from Halifax to Ottawa. 👇🏻

You can check first if there is power on the small connector on the starter motor.
Take the small plug off and check if there is the battery voltage if somebody else tries to start it. If so the solenoid needs some new parts. Short job. 12,6 V would be fine Did you check all of your fuses ? Last time I replaced my battery i roasted the hands-free car kit I once installed. Pitty. But I was glad, everything else remained functional. |

You haven't said if you have an 10AS alarm fitted, but the battery disconnect procedure in the manual is mostly there to avoid the alarm sounding when you reconnect. It shouldn't affect re-starting unless the immobiliser has activated. If it has, then you should see a red immobiliser warning light on the instrument panel (red engine icon with a cross through it) when you try to start it. This will prevent the engine cranking. If you have a remote handset (plip) this should be able to clear the immobiliser. Check that its battery doesn't need replacing. At worst, if it IS a 10AS problem, you may have to apply the EKA procedure to start the car. It is much more likely, however, that you have a starter solenoid problem, which is very common. If you are still having problems, try disconnecting the battery again. Then go inside and have a cup of coffee or tea and put your feet up for 30 minutes!
Hopefully when you reconnect the battery the immobiliser will have reset itself. |

I have an 06 defender with no security system not even power windows or locks never came with a key fob. Is there a way to wire past the immobilizer since it is completely useless since this vehicle is a bush truck.

This is only from engine ecu. Alarm ecu 10AS is immobilizing engine starter, it controlls starter relay. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo
