Malta 2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 CSW Santorini Black
Thats how it feels shifting when driving. I also feel like need to push too hard to get it aligned on reverse. 4 months ago I had the transfer box out and removed the adaptor housing. In the process, greased gear leaver ball/socket. So all should be good there.
This evening I got curious, and with the engine off, clutch disengaged and transfer box in neutral I checked 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6. 5-6-5 is really smooth. 3-4-3 is ok. 1-2-1 is least ok. I could not feel any ‘step’ going 1-2-1 even when I push the stick hard to the left (without going into reverse). But still feel like 2nd being not straight under 1st. Feels more like it is at an angle.

Or perhaps my centering spring is too strong, or a weak left hand. Maybe the result of driving a German car too often Whistle 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
