March delivery for my 90 but the order was submitted last month.
It’s a Land Rover, there is no guarantees when the engine will go bang, it’s all part of the fun of ownership |

Just tell SWMBO that’s it’s not the same engine, it’s a new design to get around that problem..........and it’s an in-line not one of those nasty V shaped ones that had the snapping cranks...... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

She knows about the engine differences, it doesn’t help me out that much. She’s had a couple of years of no spending/shredding £20s in LR’s direction and has gotten quite used to it.

Thinking of it. Problem is I can’t really justify it, I’m not doing off-roading, not camping any more, can’t really do Scandinavian jollies, SWMBO doesn’t like my idea of Road Trips, etc, etc. Plus a Defender wouldn’t be my main car, the Karoq would be that as it does everything I need with clogs on. At the moment it’s either a basic 90HT or, in go big or go home style, a 110 FE with a couple of options. I am so in trouble if SWMBO lurks here. Last edited by DSL on 12th Nov 2020 2:36pm. The only “return to dealership” type issues that mine has suffered have been due to dire QC at the end of the production line which, as mine is a VIN in the very early production run I would hope that the leaks and rattles I suffered are now cured in current production. I’ve had no mechanical issues at all and now it’s got 4500 miles on it the engine amazes those not in the know that it’s only a 4 pot 2litr, it is very smooth and quiet. Now after 5 months and 1 day ownership I would say it’s almost as smooth and quiet as my PHEV Countryman and the 2015 L494 RRS. At sixty in 8th gear the D240 is hardly straining itself as its at peak torque at 1400 revs which is around 60 in top gear. Re running, what mpg is achievable from the diesels when cruising on the Mway at modest speeds? For longhauls I tend to click the CC on at 60mph and let the fast stuff get on with it. Just wondering what I’d get consumption-wise, which would also dictate range.

DSL, if you click on my Fuelly banner in my signature it will take you to the full page of my results for the D240 First Edition, do check in the top left corner that it isn’t showing Miles per US gallon as it seems to default to that even though I enter it in real gallons (actually I enter litres but it calculates in MGP). 95% of my motoring is at National speed limits on A roads with 3 round trips up the A9 sat on the speed limits on cruise control and varied as required for the road works sections. The apparent big dip was due to a weekend spent in low ratio off-road when TC has shown down as low as single digit mpg the consumption is nowhere near as good as the the average obtained in my SDv6 that did Stirling to London 4-5 times a year and was also used extensively off-road but that car also had 700NM torque compared to the L663’s 400NM and the Def is heavier.
