The bolts that screw into the bulkhead to secure the wing to the a-post go into captive fixings. The wing has slotted holes, except for the top one I think, so you only need loosen those bolts. I don’t know if the roll cage makes any difference to this as I don’t have one.

It's a webasto thermotop C on a mobile centre bracket. They do one to fit It to the edge of the bulkhead but need the outer wing off to get the thing in place.... The other option I was thinking is does the heater plastic feed from the wing vent come out easily or does it foul everything? That would probably fix it. Just occured to me I'll have to take the rack off and then loosen the cage and then.... Might be quicker to just get the HVAC bit out and probably have access then. |

mine is fitted there and i took the plastic wing ducting out and fitted it without removing the wing - put the coolant hoses on the unit first though!
if you do decide to take the wing off the wing bolts you can see in the picture, presume that is your vehicle? where is the roll cage? they are captive in bulkhead and as above you dont need to undo them all the way apart from the top one. they dont always come out nicely, some snap the brackets that they screw into. it would be prudent to replace all the brackets anyway and cooper slip them when fitting. they are similar fitting style to the door hinge to bulkhead arrangement. easy to fit replacements with wing off. you may need to re rivnut the top wing fitting, depends on age/condition of what trying to come undone. Thanks JST. Superb. I'll probably try later by removing the ducting instead. I quite liked the location. Well protected and way above where I'd ever wade to.
Yep that was my vehicle. I'll take better photos later and upload showing the cage supports just to update the thread. Could I ask you what diameter hose you bought and where from, and which 90 degree adaptors you used to branch off the heater line? Not quite sure what to buy and from where as until I get it all apart I can't measure it... Whereupon it's then immobilised till I can get the right bits. Wanted to get it all in advance of doing the cut in the heater feed line. |

How did you get the duct out, did you take the wheel arch liner out to drop it down?

It was a few years ago, its quite flexible, I just bent it almost double to get it out and refit.
Pipework I just bought a length of sae rated heater hose, 19mm id i think, not sure now. Also bought selected of 90 deg plastic and straight fittings from amazon. Ok, now I get the cage picture. I was expecting a tube running vertically from wing to outrigger, with it being in front of bolts for wing to bulkhead. You shouldn't have say problems there with taking wing off if you need to. Cheers

Not all SD cages use the same design though - some don't have this 2 piece arrangement with the A pillar and are a single structure.
