Other thing to try is to disable UAC. You can search for it in settings.
Microsoft have done a huge amount to improve the security in Windows. If an old program tries to access memory in an insecure way, it will be blocked. |

Having "upgraded" our PC to Windows 10 in January, this morning I'm rejoicing as I've finally managed to get our old Windows Live Mail working again. My goodness we've missed it.
The new Mail program included with Windows 10 is a ghastly, clunky mess. We tried OE Classic (a scam, all our emails were repeatedly hacked almost immediately), and Thunderbird (okay, but not as nice as WLM), so to get WLM back today is bliss. The only trouble is, our PC is ailing, we've bought a new one ready for when it dies, but I don't know if I'll be able to get the old WLM onto it. My 'O' Level in computing from 1980 isn't much help these days.... Incidentally, if anyone has had the same problem with losing WLM, I solved it using the details here: https://www.tenforums.com/browsers-email/1...pdate.html |

WLM is no longer supported and as far as I work out will not run on Windows 10. On your old PC try running outlook and logging in with your WLM email address. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

I'm sure it will run on Windows 10, as I'm on Windows 10 now and it's working fine since I used the fix in the link, above. I know it isn't supported any longer, but until it permanently expires, I'm going to use it as it's so good compared to its successors.

I have W10 here on my laptop, and RAVE works just fine with its original Adobe software.
Maybe I'm just on borrowed time |

I Had a problem yester with Windows preventing me from uploading a scanner programme , the PC was running windows 10 version 2004 , the agent from Microsoft suggested that I update to
Edition Windows 10 Home Version 20H2 Installed on 01/12/2020 OS build 19042.662 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0 and try again, the only problem is that it uploads an update KB4586876 this update prevent all sorts of things working including File Explorer and also prevented the upload from the CD/DVD drive. If you are having problems it may be worth checking if you have this update and deleting it. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off.
