Me neither. Windows 7 or 8 virtual Machine would be the way to sort it I think. Must be to do with Acrobat 4

Lots of problems with 2004. I also made the mistake and upgraded from 1909. If you have only installed windows 10 2004 recently then best option is to revert back to previous version.

I think microsoft need to have a good think on what they are doing with windows 10, every single update they release has been nothing but trouble. I have stopped the system updating to the current version, the version that is on, is not exactly working well, I think i will have to do a full blown clean install. But i am going to build a new system for that.
for Legacy software you cannot beat vmware, but you need a good host for it to run. Might have changed now due to PC hardware tech Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

My McAfee security stopped working after a recent update, spoke online to McAfee and they couldn't figure it out. Uninstalled all updates back to a date I knew it was working and updated a bunch of updates one at a time till I found the one that caused the problem, back in touch with McAfee with the details of the update that was causing the problems, 12 hours later McAfee updated itself and and email from McAfee with 12 months free on my subscription as a way of thanks. That's a nice gesture from McAfee ARC99
![]() I lost a lot of interest in Windows after the demise of XP. I know everything has to evolve, but I have felt everything since XP has been hard work whereas I thought the idea was to make things more seamless? I agree Procta, I think Microsoft do need to have a real hard think about what they are dishing out to us. Without tempting fate, but so far I have had no problems but I don't run too much software on top of normal stuff (I do rum McAfee as this is a legacy of when the PC was purchased), but my parents have both had issues after doing updates. |

Chances are that it's due to improved security. Anything badly written is likely to have problems.
Try 'run as administrator'. After that, it's compatibility mode. |

I will have to redo a clean install at some point, my installation now is full of rubbish the system is starting to be come unstable. That only boils down to windows updates, as the system is only used for Youtube, facebook, ebay and email checking. With a bit of google. Its not even used for downloading. What microsoft should have done, is kept it the way it used to be. Service packs and critical updates, when needed. Windows 7 i think was the last time no one had any trouble with, windows 8. never really got a chance, but they did look at changing the layout, sort of went back to the days of windows 3.x there. But again that never gave me any issues bar the internet explorer. ![]() Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

They are just rolling out any old crap, I used to to disable the update feature in windows XP right up to windows 8, to stop updates. As i found updates caused more problems in the past, Service packs though are a different question, but again you have to watch it with those too. Have you tried this after running an update on 10 as sometimes it reverts back to only Microsoft apps? Or falls somewhere in between
You’ll find this option under Settings > Apps > Apps & Features Under “Installing Apps”, you can select either “Allow apps from anywhere”, or “Allow apps from the Store only”. Worth a try as unless the setting is right it throws up all sorts of problems. I hate Windows 10 ![]() http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |
