Yes, the 2.4 doesn’t have a pump at the pick up assembly and depends on the fuel pump to get things going. I was going off the thread title stating this was a problem with a 2.2 unit.
As for problems in the wet, like I mentioned, maybe the connections weren’t securely re-connected from the last time you brought down the tank. Or, it could already wear and tear of your current pick up & pump unit |

MIL back on again this morning - it's been raining here so I could have bet my house on it. The wet weather is now 90% of the cause of this problem, whatever it is.
Out of interest - I get a TC (traction control) light when I get the MIL too. Is this common and a red-herring or is the TC a potential avenue for investigation? |

****** IT'S FIXED *******
Kudos to Roean Land Rover in Telford - Gary the head mechanic in particular. He found the problem, and it's nothing I'd have found myself or has been suggested, so we're all vindicated!! The wiring loom runs through the bulkhead and over the top of the gearbox in the transmission tunnel, outside of the tub. The loom had come loose from it's retaining fixings and had rubbed against the gearbox body and the underside of the tub, wearing through to raw wires which were grounding out when it touched the gearbox or when water got in the way. Check your looms, people! |

That's good news. These sorts of faults can be very frustrating. Darren
