Buying My First Defender

This group has kindly helped me avoid a couple of duds. I am hoping this time I have found 'the one'....or in fact The 110!

Cream coloured 110, 127k miles, drives very nicely. Very little has been done other than regular servicing and the body work, hinges, doors, bulkhead and chassis look good to me. Last 2 years has passed its MOT and not done very miles, but kept inside and the exterior is in really good nick with just a normalmpaint job, so nothing to hide evils

Enclosed are 2 photos of very rusty areas near the rear cross member. Views please?

Worst case for me is that rear cross member needs replacing and I should reflect that in the offer (they are looking for 10k), but I would really value the views from the group.

Thank you in advance.

Hi, the pics didn't load. I spent a bit of time restoring my cross member so I didn't need to replace it. Happy to give some feedback

Hi it looks solid enough to me. I also had delamination of the bottom steel edge. I've had good results with por15 rust preventative paint and their chassis black top coat. I also filled it with dintrol cavity wax and their top coat. It's still holding up 3 years later
