I have an auz tank in the wing. I used the bottom outlet on the aux tank to feed fuel to my webasto. You are supposed to use it as a balance pipe to the main tank but I wasn't to keen to drill holes low down in the fuel tank.
As you have explained I used the standard pipe cut down and a couple of jubilee clips to go between aux tank and main tank and aux and filler. If I pump fuel at speed the froth can sometimes shut the pump off, I normaly fill quite fast for 3/4 tank then slow it down. If I'm off on a long journey and I fill before I go, I pump til it shuts off, then rock the 110 and the tank burps itself and I can another 4-5L in. 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

That's not a bad idea, I have 2 webastos in situ now with one being fed from a filling neck adaptor and the other is to be fed from the main tank pump area. |

I have one fitted. As Mark says the small outlet is meant to have a balance pipe on it to the main tank. I didn't fit mine as the routing of that pipe and chassis rails means the tank has to have a hole drilled in it very low down. Too prone to off road damage for me and it risks emptying both tanks.
I bought a spare filler hose and cut it down. Its a pig to connect up. Breather pipe is extended off main tank and connects to breather on leading edge of aux tank. if you rock on filling you can get another 3 to 4l in. On the picture below, you should be able to see the balance pipe fitted on my 110.
I was a bit afraid in the beginning that it may got caught in some branches while off-road, but I have now completely forgotten about it and have had no issue whatsoever. This long range tank set up has been highly popular in SA and AUS for decades (was first produced by Front Runner) and the lack of reported failure suggests it is pretty safe. I am more afraid of my neighbor wanting to  me off, crawling underneath, cutting the level pipe with a kitchen knife, spilling 120L of fuel on the driveway ….

On my previous Td5 Ian at IRB installed Safari Equip fuel tanks - a 120L main tank and a 48L wing tank. The balance pipe was routed through the anti-roll bar bracket to provide protection for it, sheathed in convoluted tubing to protect against fretting.
What you do not want is that balance pipe leaking - like mine did after the first full fill - 168 litres. That was due to the cheap and nasty rubber pipe provided by Safari Equip - it was practically porous. A fast trip back to the workshop and decanting all that fuel into buckets was quite an experience. After a decent quality pipe was fitted it covered 130,000 miles with no problem under my ownership. that picture is the reason i didnt fit mine. i decided if it was going on then i would need to make up some protection shields for it front , rear and below and its subsequently never happened. Cheers

I am fitting the tank this weekend.
The breather pipe on the main tank has had it which i was expecting. Click image to enlarge I need to extend the pipe further up to the top of the side tank, does anyone know the correct size pipe? :EDIT: it's 3/4"

Me neither, although there was signs that the tank had been dropped out before, so who knows what someone may have done in the past
Ordered the replacement pipe, plus reducer ( 19mm to 10mm on the top tank ), 10mm pipe and a new filter housing as the barb snapped when i tried to disconnect the main fuel line. I've tapped into the tank with the pick up pipe and will this one for the Webasto Airtop and and the other outlet from the top tank for the Thermo top for the shower install. When i get round to the Engine pre heater thermo top, i'll need to source another feed from somewhere  |

I have the Safari Equip 90 aux fuel tank, I have never plucked up the courage to fit it yet as not totally convinced about drilling the tank and the balance pipe hose tails ability to seal against the tank.

Quick question, the outlet at the bottom of the tank ( balancing output ) does anybody know the size of the thread on this?
I'm thinking 1/4 BSP, but how do adapt that as a feed pipe ( 8mm fuel line ) |
