For me it’s the classic mud flaps all round.

I seem to bd in the minority, but I prefer the more modern look of the smaller flaps. The classics look to me out if place on this more modern looking truck. Plus, they’ll just get destroyed if you do any kind of rock crawling.

I would suggest the classic on the back is a good idea as they are big and this car throws up a lot of spray and muck on wet roads. But it depends what you are using the car for - if you are motorway bounding then the bigger flaps on the back too, for off-road as well and they are amazingly flexible. If you live in a sunny warm place then the smaller ones are probably more useful for the appearance.
I have the classic ones on the front too and they save a lot of muck from going up the doors, especially if you have bigger tyres. Makes sense, but I just can't get past the look of the classics. Too much flap for me.

I am a fan of the classic, but I have the x with the gloss trim and no fender protectors. For the x, i think the modern are the way to go. On a more 'rugged' version with he various accessories, the classics FTW..

I can see that the huge size of the “classic” mudflaps might be a problem in deep snow conditions with build up of freezing slush/snow in front of the flaps. At least on my old 90 they are sheet rubber and they can be tied up like a blind in deep mud and snow to prevent that build up.
