Fox shocks or others and towing etc
Hi I have a currently standard suspension set up, and have started to tow a caravan.

I have always wanted to fit -1 comfort springs and uprated anti roll bars to improve road holding and bounce. The go to shock was Bilstein B6 but now appears to be Fox 2.0 for 90s and lighter vehicles.

Is the above requirement for everyday driving in conflict with my other requirement to tow a caravan. (approx 1.6t and 100kg nose weight)

Any experience from people with a similar combination appreciated DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Rear springs on a 90 is a difficult one. Or they are compressing when you put a trailer behind it or load in the 90 or they are hard when empty.
Here my 90 loaded with camping gear and a set of 35"Simexes and a trailer with an unknown nose weight but not light as I like noseweight when towing.

I have 325 lbs/inch rear springs and 275 lbs/inch front Standard is 275 rear and 195 front if I am correct. My 90 is empty 2020kg so a little heavier then standard.

I don't tow that often and off-road a lot if that was the otherway I would have a look at air spring helpers

Something like these. these are for a 110 so won't fit a 90. This was just the first hit I got. Very Happy

This way you keep your light springs for empty ride and can put some pressure in to keep your 90 level when loaded. Roel

I didn't have much luck with comfort springs and towing heavy 3 ton+, adjustable fox 2.0 on the other hand are really great, I just went for full compression while towing a 3 ton boat 400 mile round trip and it towed great.

Ive been told by a dealer for fox and bilstein that they are both fine for towing, just not with comfort springs. The standard springs are what they told me to keep (110 towing a horse box)

tbh, they aren't bad just sag a bit low and look a little silly, with the dampers on max compression was a really stable nice ride.

I have the exact setup you describe with Foxes, great everyday drive and perfect for towing my 2.5 tonne boat and the horse trailer with a 17 hand horse, totally recommend Thumbs Up 2015 HT XS 90
