Some downloads (my guess is minor ones that only take a few minutes to install) are installed automatically, such as the one I received about a week ago or so. I am at 2.0.3 currently. Some are larger and require user interaction to start installing (or to schedule for install at a later time) after they download. I have the feeling most of us have yet to receive the one featured on PowerfulUK's video.

I wonder if you set a schedule it might then install, worth a try and one which I think Powerful UK didn't try as the video just shows trying to install now and then locking up the car. 2020 Defender 110 SE 240D: Fuji White.

Supacat, IIRC critical components aren’t updated by over the air, it would be too easy for serious things to go wrong and leave a car stranded. My understanding is that engine/transmission stuff still gets done at the dealership. Every time my car has been back to the service bay (4 times since June) for warranty work and accessory fitting the first comment on the work report is that all updates checked and applied as needed. I’ve had at least two updates done while the car has been in the workshop. I've seen different figures for how many modules are SOTA enabled, I recall reading 14, this article mentions 16, and I think more were planned: "Meanwhile, another modem in the Vehicle Domain Controller looks after SOTA downloads" "all while the vehicle downloads updates for one of the 16 SOTA-ready electronic control modules." https://www.qualcomm.com/news/onq/2020/01/...ected-ever It would be interesting to know what the 16 were and then taking a view on how critical they were. Anyone even got a list of the 85? I also noticed that TFL's report from their dealer noted: "Found software update available for PCM & TCM. Updated PCM software. Updated TCM software." PCM - Park Control Module?
TCM - Traction Control Module? Has anyone else noticed that this is the first LR in a few years not to have any form of self parking offered? Probably because hardly anyone used it after the first try........ it’s the same with some other Marques too, it’s dying a death since better resolution reversing cams are being used. The rear crossing traffic warning system though is much more useful, as is the warning not to open a rear door because a car or bike is approaching in the blind spot detection zone - that has given my great nephew and some of his friends great fun trying to work out the area it monitors to trigger the light in the door pulls! I had a look and it might be:
Powertrain Control Module and the Transmission Control Module. Here's a live example of what has happened with JLR & SOTA when you don't know what they are updating & the details of the update: "My transmission Control Module had a LR dealer software update performed on it for the first time since new. My transmission always used to perform perfectly before this update, and now i get a gear shift flare (around 200RPM) when it shifts from 3-4th gear. My question is.....is it possible for the dealership to upload the original software that my TCM came with? " http://babyrr.com/forum/Thread-Software-updates-for-PCM-TCM-ECU |

LOL ~ what a faff, and even with a direct contact within JLR, they failed to really help.
So there is a very rudimentary form of release notes: Click image to enlarge Still confusing on the eSIM front. Especially for the 2nd "creative" function. If it's an ESIM, why are there instructions regarding installing a physical nano SIM? Click image to enlarge Also, why did PowerfulUK get a nano SIM when he hadn't spec'd or paid for it? |

I’ve been told you need the additional SIM if you spec the WiFi HotSpot option - that box isn’t on the options for U.K. 1st Edition cars like mine. I believe you get the nano-SIM slot below the centre consol and between the 2 USB ports if you do spec that option. Having said that I I have (or did have but have to go and re-check since the update!) the option in the connectivity menus to select the Hot Spot on the screen! I have the external WiFi option selected too and on the left side of the main Pivi Pro screen I get two x 4G signal strength displays, one for the car and I assume the 2nd is for my mobile phone
Later Edit - the Hotspot option isn’t there now on mine also in the signal strength display it also shows the strength of the connection to my home WiFi The connectivity signal strength is on the left of the screen - mobile phone at the top, in car system in the middle and WiFi at the bottom Also checking in the updates mine is showing version 2.0.3 now when according to PowerfulUK I should now be on version 0.4................. the car was shut in a metal clad shed shed all last week and up to Monday afternoon so now it’s connecting to my home WiFi I’ll see if it downloads the 0.4 update this morning. I also had a “low battery start engine warning this morning”. Never had that before and yesterday afternoon the car did a 50 miles round trip ......... It looks like they are, if you include the driver assistance system; and reading back on the Qualcomm press release, it also stated: "The Vehicle Domain Controller also has its own Snapdragon 820Am used to support our telematics and SOTA technology, which provides the latest software for 16 individual electronic modules covering various aspects of the vehicle. This means safety-critical elements will always have the latest and most up-to-date software." |

Received this email from my dealer today -
“Britain is leaving the E.U. Land Rover have sent out an e-mail confirming that from 01/01/2021 there might be additional tariffs on goods and services coming from the E.U into the U.K.. If this transpires to be the case, then Jaguar/Land Rover will not be in a position to price protect your new car order. Assuming the manufacturer has to increase the prices, then the John Clark Motor Group (Pentland Dundee) will not be in a position to hold the prices. As you can appreciate, this possibility is something I need to make you aware about. Do not worry excessively about this, as if there is a price change that makes it unaffordable for you, we will not expect you to take delivery. Can you please reply to this e-mail confirming that you have received and understood it?” |

WTO terms will increase the price of cars by up to about 10% from what I’ve heard on the radio..........I stand to be corrected on this and it may be a worst case scenario.
