Just an update on the oil leak / skew gear removal.
I pulled the vacuum pump out and the skew gear came with it, but I think I've found the cause of the leak. The O rings in the skew gear shaft and the housing were hard as plastic and shattered when prised out with a screwdriver. The bearing in the housing was also running rough. So with new bearing and O rings fitted and a bit of trial and error it went back in. Bolted up the vacuum pump with a new gasket and so far it seems to be oil tight. |
