In USA over 3,000 Defenders 4 sale, but only 7 w/roof racks
I have a copy of the memo that JLR sent to all US dealers last week stating Covid 19 has caused unprecedented delays in suppliers support and most cars at the port are being stripped of the add on explorer and adventure packs! I looked on car gurus and cars.com. Maybe I missed some maybe 15-20 but still out of 3k cars only 15-20? Wow.

PS I don’t care if you’re one of the guys who didn’t order or don’t want a roof rack, this is just an observation on a desirable add on that’s in scarce supply in the states.

Pss I’m sure 50 11 billion thousand guys in other countries will speak up “but my country I ordered one no problem “ Rolling with laughter 2022 Defender Trek Competition 110 collectors edition!

I've driven one with a roof rack and you will definitely hear the noise. I have a Front Runner on my LR4 and the front of it extends down to the roof allowing the air to flow over it. MUCH quieter. Front Runner is making one for the new Defender:

ARB says they are making a kit for their new base rack system. Looks like another good option coming.

But will the roof antenna work with those aftermarket roof racks? Also the LR one meets stringent crash test requirements, has hidden fixings under the rubber covers to attach brackets etc for accessories, a lot of thought went into their rack I think it will be hard to beat other than the price.

Very good point. You will have to make that call. Do you plan on using the rack for any specific purpose? If you have your heart set on the OEM then just wait (could be awhile). Have you driven one with it? 2012 LR4

I would use it for carrying surf boards and a rooftop tent but there’s one off times I’m going to need to carry items. I am going to wait I want to see what else comes out. I haven’t driven with that rack on but it’s getting very feedback might even be better than the defender itself Laughing

I assume you have seen this:

It's definitively well designed but the best feature/option is very subjective. 2012 LR4

Yes I watched that video looks the business and relatively easy to install, I’m going for the 90 so should be a doddle.

Which best feature was that?

Did I misunderstand the "might even be better than the defender itself" comment? Maybe you were being sarcastic. It's definitely well built. 2012 LR4

Yes it was my humour I’m from Newcastle we are a funny bunch up North East of England... but yes the roof rack looks a solid piece of kit they’ve put some thought into making that Thumbs Up

How are you finding the new Defender? I must admit I’m terrified about some of the electrical faults I’ve been reading on FB and the forum from other members vehicles. I hope I hit lucky and it’s relatively problem free it’s the most expensive car I’ve bought so I’ll be kind of Censored if it’s more hassle than it’s worth. I’m a huge fan of the defender and LR my dad drove RR’s and I had defenders ever since I could drive so as soon as o seen the Frankfurt motor show debut I just knew I had to get one.

So far so good. I've only had it 2 weeks but It's a winner. Mine is being "cosmetically modified" at the moment. I definitely post some pics when I get it back in 6 days. 2012 LR4
