Wireless CarPlay
I love that my new Defender has Apple CarPlay but it really is a shame that they didn't make it wireless considering all the other high tech features it has. The wireless charging pad is nice but I still have to plug my phone in to the USB to get CarPlay on the screen. Anyway, I've found a solution and I will post more details when I have tested the device and I will offer this device for sale on my website if it seems stable.

I’m sure I read on here that wireless CarPlay is coming in a future update?

To answer my question , a little google and it does appear to work with the pioneer SPH 120 .

I’ll be ordering one immediately! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

I have edited my previous post. The CPLAY2AIR device does not support Land Rover but this device will...

Only issue is, A, It will drain your phone battery. Some Apps will use far more than others. B, there is audio quality losses that you can encounter.
You also might have to connect it manually unless it does this automatically, to use it wirelessly.

I don’t know much about it to be honest, but I took a screen shot of it a few weeks ago as another option. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

So the iPhone 12 battery can't be charged by the wireless charger and the CarPlay has to be plugged in as well. And they took this to SEMA in January to show off? 2012 LR4

I have just bought one of these for my Amarok. It does what it says, although takes 20-30 secs to automatically connect each time you jump in the car. I'd been hoping that it will also work in my Defender when it arrives in Feb, but by the looks of W84IT's comment it doesn't work for Defender. I'm hoping he's wrong Confused MY21 110 D300SE DEFENDER

D300
Just noticed that you have a D300 on order and that you can expect in February. I didn't think that the 6 cylinder diesel wouldn't be available till July.

Unless my dealer is telling fibs.....

My order was placed as soon as they opened for the MY21/D300, I was given an estimated delivery date of 05 Feb. Orders my dealer placed the following week were pushed back to a March delivery date from what I was told. I haven't seen anything "official" from JLR though, so you may know something I don't. MY21 110 D300SE DEFENDER

Phone mount for CarPlay access
Wireless CarPlay would have been nice, but here's a workaround that works for me. I bought a phone holder that is mounted by the 12v socket next to the CarPlay USB input and than ran a short USB Lightning cable so that it would be easy to connect once the phone is mounted on the holder. Puts the phone in a good location, also don't have to worry when I switch to an iPhone 12. sorry about the photos, was at night with a flashlight for lighting.

Sound Quality
I was excited to hear the CarPlay2Air is now compatible with the Defender, but just noticed the difference in sound quality between Bluetooth and hardwired (CarPlay) playback. I assume CarPlay2Air also uses Bluetooth, so despite the hardwire connection between Pivi Pro and CarPlay2Air, the Bluetooth connection still compress the (already compressed) signal.

The difference in sound quality between Bluetooth and hardwired CarPlay is significant enough that I will can’t justify the CarPlay2Air.
