I paid 2075. I believe the rack itself was 1800 or 1850 so the other 275 or 225 was labor. The first one they put on was scratched up so give it a full inspection. They replaced it for free but it looked like a dog chewed one of the corners. I didn't catch it until I got home. The roof rack makes a huge difference visually in my opinion. Good luck

I put one on after purchase...it is very easy with the help of someone else and if you know how to read instructions. Instructions are online.

After reading the article below online, I reached out Thule South Africa about how to configure an after market roof rack since Thule has not released any compatible roof racks in the US for the new Defender. They couldn't have been more helpful and educated me that previously released Thule fit kits are being used for the new Defender in both Europe and South Africa. Below is what you need which I was able to find at online stores or on Ebay. I did mine in all black to match the roof (see pic) and it looks much better (and lower profile) than the OEM dealer option. As important, I am experiencing almost no wind noise. Hope this helps everyone.

Does anyone know if the roof rails that the roof rack bolts onto can be retro fitted on the vehicle at a later date or do they have to be specified on the factory build?

I asked the same question at my dealer and they said they can't be installed at a later date, but then I saw this video:
So I guess the answer is yes, they can be retrofitted |

Thanks vlad I’ll watch that this evening. I was just a bit worried there as I hadn’t ordered them and will more than likely want to put a roof rack on at some point for my surf boards

I’m also thinking about fitting a roof rack. I like the look of the LR rack but in the uk it’s about £400 more than the front runner equivalent (appr £850). Has anyone fitted the front runner rack to their new defender? Any pros/cons of the frontrunner rack? I see it covers the antenna at the back so could be an issue with gps and maybe clear sight camera.
If I go the LR route would the frontrunner accessories be compatible? |

I had the roof rails and cross bars both fitted 2 months after the car was delivered so the dealer saying it cannot be done is very wrong.
