No, by the time that one was built it was standard fit as part of the dsc. There is a dashboard button to turn it off, which presumably they did as not once can the TC be seen activating.
The whole thing comes across as JLR paying for a promotional piece which is not a fair comparison. I'd have loved to have seen proper tests of approach and ramp angles, as we know who would win those... 2011 110 USW

Just watched it as well. What an irritating t*t. 😫

I’d like to know how much the new defender will cost to keep all the electronics fully functional, after the warranty runs out, say up to about 5 years old, against keeping the original defender fully functional, a whole lot more I‘d expect. I’d also feel a lot more confident taking the (old) defender on a proper and challenging expedition say at 5 years old, than a new one. I’m sure the new one is great, but let’s see what they are both worth against the original OTR price after 5 years.

Is there a dashboard button to turn off the traction control on a 2014 Puma? I've never found one on mine, but I'm intrigued to know if it is actually there.

but a lot of guys here have wired a switch to the fuse for the ABS/TC, so they can switch it off when they want.

personally, I don't see the fuss - learn how to drive with TC, and it will make you look great Thumbs Up --

Yes, says dsc and some lines like skid marks. Usually on the top row of the dash buttons. 2011 110 USW

Don't the last of the Pumas have proper Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)? Our MY16 has the button to disable it and you get a warning light on the dash.

From what I have seen MY14 as on a '14 plate will have ETC and ABS as standard, As that's why my "Poverty spec" USW has it. I know of a 2014 '63 'poverty' that didn't have it as standard and they were built 2 weeks apart


yet 2014 on a 64 plate will get ABS ETC and DSC as seen here

I don't have the DSC which is good as I didn't want it interfering when I know better in certain offroad conditions.

The long and the short is If they showed a 14 plate truck It would of had ETC regardless.

And he should know that in the type of situation he should of been fairy linear but firm with the throttle to get the system working and for it continue working and not back off the throttle just as it starts to get aggressive to deal with the wheelspin.

At least he did (some) homework this time. Unlike some other reviews on YouTube, he knew how to use the TR programmes and that the suspension can be further raised when stuck.

I own both old and new. Totally different vehicles with different compromises in different legislative environments. I guess LR has invited these head to head comparisons by using the “Defender” name but it’d have probably happened anyway.

In factory spec, the new Defender is clearly the better car to live with, the safer car to drive, the more capable in ‘weekend warrior’ off road settings.

The old Defender can be modded and/or abused to perform better in extreme situations; will hold its cool and its value for longer; and can be made to perform utility roles than a unibody vehicle isn’t designed for.

I love both. Thumbs Up One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
