TD5 110 csw project
I have a TD5 110 CSW project, ex RAF special vehicle mountain rescue truck. An early utility as they reove the rear and side glass in the back and replace with ali plate that's body colour.

Its specced with ABS and TC and a eberspacher heater!

is getting a full body make over, new (s/h) xs facelift td5 bulkhead, galvy B pillars, OEM 5 x doors and a new interior. The chassis sound if not a little rusty but will get zagged during the refresh.

SO colour?! No metalics, i'll use this 110 and it ill no doubt get scratched so solid colours only.

it's white.........

I like a black defender, with a SD cage and some terrafirma beadlocks it'll look gangster!

Red? seen a few red 110's can look great

keswick green, love it but nt sure with the cage etc

I'd stick with white personally. They look good in white (in my opinion - we've had two white 110s in the past). All the little exposed internal bits will already be white, which would otherwise stick out like a sore thumb. Also white tends not to show the dirt, scratches, scrapes, bent panels etc. as easily. Black shows up every single dimple, wrinkle etc. For me, I would also prefer to keep it in the original colour, just think it keeps it more genuine and less messed about with - perhaps of consideration if you were going to sell it on in the future. Just my view - good luck with it, whatever you choose!

What is the difference in the facelift Td5 bulkhead? Does it have different dash mounts? I can't think what is different compared to an earlier Td5? Except the dash configuration and the vent flaps operating levers? Maybe I'm missing something obvious. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

I wouldn't go with black if you want a vehicle that doesn't show scratches.... a few fairly superficial scratches on my Java black 110 are visible from about 20ft away Big Cry

It's also a sod to keep clean if you're worried about that kind of thing.

Still the best colour though Laughing

agree totally, white can get scratched to bits and from 3 feet still looks good.

how about a wrap ? there was a defender 90 at LRMax wrapped, it can be repaired and protects the paint underneath..

here's an example:

That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen Smile

As for the colour choice, I think it depends on your take on Land Rover ownership:

If you're traditional then Keswick Green would be the way to go.
If you want to stand out from the crowd then red (with a white roof) can be quite spectacular and is pretty uncommon these days. No votes for this one but perhaps not surpising as the 'average' colour on here seems to be grey in various shades Smile
If you like polishing then black.
If you don't really care, then white - the colour to choose when you can't think of a colour Laughing Darren

blacks looking favourite as i like the murdered look (google it!) but not sure on my morrocco trip next year in an all black 110!

saw a 91 on the m62 today in matt wrap, looks good.

the thing thats doing me is that i have bought a black xs bulkhead with the late dash etc and don't really want to strip it down for paint....it's too nice

there is a company in Trowbridge called protint UK, he was at the Wilton Super Car show a couple of weekends ago, he would do a wrap on your defender, takes 4 days

If you need a spray shop that knows Land Rovers inside and out I'd use Autocolour in Wooton Basset. I used them for my project. I turned up with a rolling stripped bodyshell plus loose panels and they did an excellent job. Used them for company vehicle knocks and scrapes aswell.
