Defender 2020 Steel Wheels
Gents,

I've just bought a set of the original 5093 18" steel wheels for my new 110 First Edition. These are to use as an off road set to my stock 22" Alloys.

The question is, can I use the same alloy nuts on the steels, and if not, what parts am I looking for? Maybe the original defender 22mm nuts will be okay? Tried the usual UK specialist, besides JLR, but not getting far, due to "covid". I can't see why this would be difficult, or expensive to deal with. Advice welcome.

This might help or not.........
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1556339

I was always told not to use nuts for alloy wheels on steelies. Do your new wheels have tapered holes for the nuts or would the lug nuts be flat on the steel wheel. I’m sure there is someone who knows the real reason on the forum.
Have you tried using the search function in the wheels and tyres section? Same recommendations apply to previous generation Defenders. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Thanks Tim. They are tapered. I'd upload a photo but just having them painted Gloss Black. Past vehicles: 2016 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon

It definitely won't be the same nuts as used on the original Defender. For a brand new vehicle and wheels, your best bet is your dealer. Darren

I asked the same question in respect of the old Defender here

Thanks for the reply.

Sure, but they are just silly on the price. No way should a set of nuts cost over £240+Vat. They use the same alloy nuts as the Disco 4 and 5 I believe, so there must be a suitable aftermarket nut for the genuine LR wheels you'd think. . . Past vehicles: 2016 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon

£240+VAT for wheel nuts....... pah a new set of letters for the bonnet is £103.
Simon at PowerfulUK tells me that they will shortly be selling them for a lot less and with a proper template to help putting them on! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Also, I don't know where you bought your letters from but my last 2016 defender letters were about £30! Smile Past vehicles: 2016 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon

I’ve been ordering online from PowerfulUK, order to delivery has never been more than 3 days unless I order on a Friday late afternoon. I bought the letters my local dealership but LRCS and LR Parts are dealing with my complaint about ridiculous pricing. I’m not holding my breath for a part refund though as I doubt JLR is bothered. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

It's only so you can attach the plastic cover, they have a lip. I just bought 45mm closed end 60 degree taper M14x1.5 blsck acorn nuts. Looks better anyways.
