Correct, mine doesn't illuminate red unless i switch it off Auto to connect the two batteries, which seems to correspond with here:

Hi Bpman - what dual voltage gauge did you get? looking for one with similar green Leds to match the defender instrument panel

Was just looking back on my original thread here and realised its been in there 5 years. Bloody hell - time flies. All still working the same as the day it was installed. really is "fit and forget"
