Hi all
Being attracted to all things shiny and also being a bit of a fan of the Nugget stuff kit, I purchased the breather manifold for the Puma . Ive mounted it up on the heater box side of the engine bay, as per instructions . Having had A LOT of rain over the past few days , I've noticed the breather manifold is getting quite a bit of water on it, presumable because of the gap between the bonnet and wing . Does this not defeat the purpose and water will be sucked in through the three ports ? Or do I have the wrong end of the stick and in fact they're pushing out air (most of the time) ? Since I fitted it I'm getting a whiff of EP90 when driving fast for prolonged periods. Presumably this could be vapour from the manifold entering the cab from under the bonnet . Thoughts appreciated https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

Air and oily fumes will be pushed out of the manifold as the axles and gearboxes het up, and air will be drawn back in as they cool. The oily smell is probably normal, even if not pleasant. I would certainly take steps to ensure that the manifold (or at least the vent port on the manifold) is somewhere where it stays dry, otherwise it rather defeats the point of the modification.

Perfect , thank you chaps .
That all makes logical sense . I will not worry about the droplets of water on the manifold . EP90 isn’t the greatest smell so I will think about how to address this issue . New bulkhead seals or dum dum ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

Jon (aka FridgeFreezer) over on LR4x4 fitted one of those tiny little air filter top hat things to his in the "109", I think he has it inside the cab at the rear and doesn't notice the smell.
Mind you it is on Volvo axles I think. Ed 82 Hotspur Sandringham 6x6 95 Defender 110 300Tdi |
