I need to replace the seal, It’s split and leaking. I have a new genuine LR one standing by, but I’ve been putting off for fear of breaking the glass. It’s a heated screen. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Bluest, is there any stone chips on your screen anywhere at all? I'd be happy to do it for you if not!*edited from 'if so'

There is a small chip, bottom middle, but not enough to worry the MOT man. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Right, the chances of it breaking from there is very likely due to the stresses on the glass when re-fitting, it'd be pointless to attempt it to be honest.

No worries, I may as well have go myself and see what happens then. If it breaks, nothing lost, if it doesn’t, happy days. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Assume that it will break if it has a chip or crack, it is overwhelmingly likely to do so.
I think it is also highly unlikely that a professional would agree to attempt to refit a cracked or chipped screen for the same reason. |

I did a video how-to last year and never uploaded it anywhere becasue it wasn't the best video..fitting a screen entirely one handed made it a bit wobbly to watch
![]() I use silicone gun nozzles x 2 back to back and cut down to feed the string easily into the rubber... May give you an idea.. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Here's what happened to mine just a few weeks ago. Defender specialist who has done hundreds of them. There was a tiny stone chip I didnt even know was there. FYI the replacement heated windscreen (covered by insurance) was 1178.00 CHF

Yeah you probably wouldn't have noticed it, being in front of the obscuration band, and probvably hidden underneath the wiper too!

Yepp. The good news is that JLR covered corrosion repair and paint for the windscreen frame and the windcreen blocks!
