Hi guys,
Just as above - I want to make sure I have all the necessary parts to rebuild a front axle, and among these are the shims for the front hub float. The part numbers run from FRC6782 up to FRC6790 - thinner up to thicker. I'd rather have a variety to hand, to avoid having to measure and then order specific ones. At this stage I clearly have no idea which ones I might/might not need. They're not hugely expensive, but rather than adding 9 part numbers to an order, is there a 'variety pack' available? Perhaps it's the case that there are several sizes which are more readily used? Thanks for the reply Chris, appreciate it.
I've just had a look through the Bearmach shop and can't find a kit. On the other hand, filtering the parts in their shop by Defender>transmission/steering/etc these shims don't show up at all even in quantities of one, which didn't inspire much confidence at all. So, for interest, I plugged in one of the specific part numbers into their search box, and it comes up OK - as a 'fastener'! If I was looking for a steering/axle/transmission part like that, I'd never think to look under 'fasteners'! One of the many 'computer says no!' moments we have to navigate through these days. However, even clicking through onto the specific part, there isn't a 'kit' offered as an associated option. Last night, I did a wee search for these parts. One example, LRDirect have them all at seemingly OK prices compared to others, but only in minimum quantities of 5 per size. At prices varying from about £1.50 to £2/3 ex VAT I soon ended up with a shopping cart which would have cost me over £70! I'm quite happy to spend £70 on my LR if I get something for it, but not a whole bunch of shims which I'll probably never use!
