Just tested the bonnet switch, it’s normally open... so wiring this up in series should work?

They need to be in parallel. In series they would all need to be triggered to close the circuit.

Not sure if I understand this right, but Andy RV tested the switch and stated it is NO. That means, when the bonnet is in its closed position, the circuit is closed (which is how it should be for an alarm system). If circuit must be closed to to be ok, then all switches have to be in series so if anyone is open, the whole circuit is open. Dinnu, that’s my non-electrician understanding of it! When the bonnet is closed it compresses the switch providing continuity for the circuit. A break in the continuity is what triggers the alarm.
I’ve ordered the parts so I’ll see how I get on. I’ll need to make some brackets up to secure the switches. |

For all the doors it's closed door = open circuit. The switches connect to ground, when open.

Just had my switches delivered, they’re normally closed, not open! Not sure how I managed that when I tested the one in-situ in the engine bay... Parallel circuit it is!

If you ordered a genuine LR switch you will not have to manufacture a bracket as there is an existing mounting hole on the opposite side of the bulkhead, the pin switch just clips in. Defender 90XS SW

I’ve made the loom up and and it works perfectly, just need to sort the brackets out and it will be ready.
I presume the perfectly sized apertures beneath the headlights were originally designed for small headlight wipers? ![]() |

Nobody knows what those holes are for, the Defender headlight washers don't fit them. I suspect they were for something that never materialised.
