Type steering wheel in the search box and you will see a lot of threads on steering wheel options

I have a Momo Jet 350mm diameter with Optimil quick release hub and swivel lock. Highly delighted with the set up (and the security aspect as well). Defender 90XS SW

Have a look at the startech steering wheel. Plenty on here, me included have fitted them with the optimil quick release set up.

Personally, I went for one from Exmoor Trim. I just feel that the Momo ones (and some others) aren't very....well, 'Defender-like' if that makes sense? I tried a Momo out and just felt it was too small and didn't suit the vehicle. The Exmoor Trim ones are larger and a bit more of a classic style. ‘08 Defender 90 Hardtop

In my opinion it's the best wheel as it looks like it could be OEM, not cheap though. ![]() Click image to enlargeUntitled by Alex L, on Flickr |

I agree. I have a Momo Millennium 35 wheel (on the Optimill quick release boss which is great) but its too small and not keeping with the rest of the interior. I can't see the speedo or tachometer properly as the top of the small wheel obstructs the view. If I were shorter it might be OK. I'm looking at the classic styles but may mean buying another Optimill boss ![]() |

That Startech looks right at home! Looks really nice! I'd love to go for one in fairness, but mines a base spec and I feel the wheel would make the interior even more farmer-like ![]() |

I get what you mean! I have looked at the Exmoor ones, and I really like the Williams wheel in black, but the wait time on orders at the moment are fairly lengthy! Which wheel is it that you have? ![]() |

I'm sure each person will favour their choice, and there are lots of good looking steering wheels to choose from. I went for the Motolita for a few reasons 1) Wanted one when younger but couldn't afford one 2) The all black traditional version looks good 3) The heratige and history.

I have a quick release Momo wheel and optiimill lock etc, but to be honest, I do miss the original wheel. I much prefer the larger size and thickness to the small Momo wheel. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

I run the standard original XS perforated leather stering wheel, and to be honest it looks great, feels decent and cost about £80.00. Gave it a good clean and nourish and it's spot on, wouldn't say it lets the interior down at all. Plus being a bit bigger it just feels right.
Only downside is it's not removeable. I guess for a few quid you could get one retrimmed and fattened up a bit with the leather of your choice, plenty of good trimmers out there. Also I see Phil at Defender71 is offering steering wheels. I know he is a bit hard to get hold of but his stuff it spot on. Hope that helps ![]() ![]() |
