Wing Mirror Mist
Hi All,

Picked up my new 110 First Edition over the weekend - so far its not been too bad! It is booked in to go to the service centre tomorrow to get a few issues rectified - mainly A pillar rattle.

Was wondering if anyone else has had issues with mist / water not clearing from the wing mirrors? Did a 40 minute drive this morning and it still looked like this by the end of it.

I'm not sure if the wing mirrors are heated or not - I can't find anything that states that they are so probably not.

Not a big issue either way, will just wipe them down - just thought I'd check with other owners to see if they know a little trick I do not! 😊

Also for people who have the panoramic glass sunroof - some times I get into the car and the blind opens up automatically, other times it does not - anyone know why?

Did you download the IGuide for the car?

According to the pdf sales brochure all Defenders including the base model have electric controlled heated wing mirrors.

The sunroof sometimes seems to have a mind of its own, on Sunday afternoon I had opened mine fully and when I wanted to park up it took about 10 goes to get it to get passed the ¾ closed place and to get there I had to manually open and close the blind as they are linked. The blind will automatically only open the first quarter of its travel if you only tilt the sunroof, but you can open it fully (or to any amount of open) by then pressing the button. There is a combination of operation button presses that you can make that will make it auto opening or manual opening - mine is set up to open fully as soon as I press the engine start button but I have a couple of times pressed the right combination to stop that Embarassed

Heated mirrors - it could have been that the ambient temperature wasn’t cold enough for the heater to come on, did you try using the Max function or just the heated front screen to see if that forces the wing mirror heaters to operate? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Thanks for the quick response Tim!

Silly me - should have checked the iGuide!

According to that it adjusts itself according to the ambient temperature outside or if the heated rear screen is on.

I did have it on Max function for a while - maybe not long enough.

Yeh the sunroof is an item that the service centre is going to take a look at. If I select auto close, it will start closing - change it mind and open all the way. It often means I have to press and hold the close button.

Any idea what the button combo is to get it to auto open/close?

Also, according to the Apps it seems to state I have some sort of weather app - couldn't find it anywhere!?

Just been out to mine that has been parked on the drive overnight and we had a grass frost here but it’s now 8c - switched on the rear demister and the mirrors cleared very quickly (and warm to touch) but the rear screen was very very slow and I used the wiper to clear the condensation as so slow. The front screen didn’t appear to do anything so might have to have another check when we have a enough frost to ice the front screen.

Apps - on the big touch screen I have no weather app option and same on the smartphone LR Remote app, nothing there either so will connect my 2020 IPhone SE and have a look on the Car Play apps to see which of my weather apps on that come up. Remember the First Edition doesn’t have the option for the data card only the data for the over the air apps so you have to use your network providers data allowance on your phone.

I have seen something about weather somewhere but cannot find it afterv10 minutes in the car - even the various weather apps I have on my iPhone don’t show in the Carolay screen. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Hey Tim

I mentioned before about the online data pack. I also do not have the weather at any time since August. The ability to stream Spotify and the pay to park only work intermittently. I have asked the dealer only to be told I should restart the system. This does not correct the problem. It’s going back to the menders for 3 days to fix a dropped rear door and wind noise on the drivers A pillar. Hope it will be resolved then but I’m not holding my breathe. Just see the velar comments on the pivi pro 2020 Defender 110 First Edition with a couple of factory options
