Parking brake operation device use
Or rather lack of use there-of.........
When I first got the car I was concerned that the manual controller for the EPB was in a rather out of the way place maybe not user friendly in day to day use but you know what? I don’t think I’ve used it since the 2nd day if ownership! The “Hold” function is brilliant and combined with the P button of the automatic gearbox works really well. Gerry, all is forgiven about the location of the parking brake operator location, about the only use it will ever get now is to perform an emergency stop ...... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Same here, the way the park brake hold is implemented is absolutely brilliant. No more lunging forward or backward an inch or two after hitting the P button, car stays planted in place until you hit the gas pedal, and it all happens so seamlessly. I can't even hear the squeal of the park brake engaging or the clunk of it disengaging - unless I have the window open. Only downside will be the inevitable wear and tear on the mechanism, but you're right: I don't see myself ever reaching for that lever except maybe in an emergency.

Same. The push/pull operation is not intuitive (I always mixed up engaging and release the EPB). But then once I release the EPB will engage automatically when shift to Park, and disengage when shift to Drive, I haven’t touched the EPB once since. 2020 Defender P400 SE Eiger Grey

My Velar is 3 years old or will soon be and I’ve yet to touch the EPB, put the car in park and it’s applied put it in drive and it’s released.

Be wary of constantly using 'P' only on the auto box - over time there is a risk of bending/damaging the parking pawl in the gearbox. Rgds.

The car has to go into park, even in neutral and switched off it defaults to park. When park is selected the EPB is applied automatically.

EPB has automatically applied on every Range Rover I’ve own since 2005, none has had the hold function though which holds the car until you select P and the EPB is engaged. The EPB also seems to engage automatically if you switch of the engine but not if you are using the auto stop/start which utilises the hold until the engine stops then the red hand brake icon comes on until you drive away again. If you only press lightly on the foot brake the hold operates without activating the auto stop start. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
