Started having a look around at what was on the market for mods. Some of the wheel threads are starting to get interesting.

That’s true, but for a range of 6000miles it requires 20l of adblue, so for a trip of 12000 miles only 2 jerrycans is required, which can easily be stored on the roof racks.
The standard tank only provides a range of around 500-550miles on good roads, the reason why I need a larger/additional fuel tank is Im planing to drive to Dikson in Russia (73°30' N) and I have been told by the organisers that I will need additional fuel tank as the engine will be running 24/7, even if you are not driving you can’t switch of the engine. |

Short of towing a tanker trailer there cannot be many vehicles that have fuel tankage for that sort of range even with Jerry cans on the roof rack. I believe Naks posted that the South African diesels did not require adblue, not such the case in 🇦🇺 mind you yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

You don’t need carry fuel to cover whole trip, there are “fuelling stations” on the route every 600-800km but there is no where you can buy adblue.
On both their vehicles (land cruiser 200 and nissan patrol) they have 260l fuel tanks installed + 60l on the roof racks each. |

When DEF standards came out there was loads of discussion on this I thought where people were shipping a def equipped car to a another country for expedition activities and that country didn’t mandate it you can have it disabled as part of the preperation. Think it’s Via software at the dealer in the location rather than just pulling a fuse though 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Given that DEF is mainly deionised water with a hint of urea, plus some gunk to make it blue, would it do any damage to top up the tank with water if caught short in the wild?
On a trip that far north I'd be concerned about the DEF tank freezing (or is it heated)? |

Damn, those prices are in Euros, and I can just imagine how much freight to the US would be. On the other hand, I bet they are super high quality and lighter than your average steel plates. Nice to see more underbody protection popping up quickly from a variety of manufacturers, though. |
