Start by testing at the light, as in are you getting voltage there when the switch is flicked. If you are it’s an earth issue, if not it’s a supply issue. You’ve then split the circuit in half. If it’s on the supply, go back to the switch once you locate it and check for supply to it and from it. If you are not getting anything from it when the switch is flipped then it’s the switch. If you are the it’s the wiring to the lamps.
You have checked the bulbs are ok?! |

I think
You will have an auxiliary light switch on the dash above the stereo. Press this in and then that allows the lights to come on when you use the main beam. They normally fit the relay in the battery box. |

So no switch on the dash above the stereo but I do have a switch on the right side of the steering column that has a light and 2 on it. It doesn't seem to do anything so I'll assume that's it. I will check the bulbs and start the diagnostics.
Thanks for the help! |

I believe that that was the correct location for the switch (it's also where I fitted a three-way switch for my lightbar on my Puma), so should be the one. Remember that the lights should only operate if the headlights are on main beam, so in addition to the switch somewhere there will be a relay and probably a fuse.

Thanks for confirming, I will find the relay and fuse before assuming the worst!

As mentioned above -
turn on the main beam first, then try the switch with the ‘2’ on it with the main beam lights on They are aux lights so can only work with the main beam Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

Click image to enlarge So there is an issue, I picked up a tester today and will start checking things out tomorrow. Anyone know which relay it is? I assume it is the one with the 25 fuse on the side as it looks like it might be a add on. Click image to enlarge |

So I've swapped the two green relays, and no change. I've swapped two of the yellow relays in the main fuse box, no change. I put a tester in the connector at the lights and have continuity??? This says to me that there is a short in the wiring but all fuses are good. Any insight or info??

I think I'd begin by tracing wires to make sure I was changing the right relay. With that confirmed, it's just a case of checking for power at the appropriate places with a meter of some kind. Darren

Have you got the engine running whilst testing? From memory the tomb raiders with the factory fitted spots had a voltage sensing switch which only allows them to be switched on with the engine running.

Yes, tried with the engine running, I am driving it as a daily driver so haven't been able to tear the dash apart to get to the wiring but seems I need to to find the relay. I have ordered a new radio and will hopefully figure it out when I take it apart to install that.
I was reading something about a aux light control modual that was very prone to failing in the disco and not sure if they used the same set up??? |
