I've recently fitted new OE shocks to mine after about 50k miles on the originals and I'm very pleased with the result. Darren

Not particularly - they just offer more control than the worn ones that they replaced. I have, however, also fitted station wagon rear springs to my USW which are softer, initially at least, which makes for a more pleasant ride when empty. Darren

I also run the station wagon springs (triple rate) along with Koni Heavy Track shocks. In my opinion the comfiest you can make a Defender 110 on the rear (if you're looking for something softer).
They are fully adjustable should your circumstances change. Now: 2010 2.4 TDCi 110 Utility Wagon Then: 2004 2.5 TD5 90 Hard Top (X-Tech Edition) |

Or std only oil filled shocks. Gas charged shocks will be harsher all the time. Puma 110" SW

Why will gas charged shocks be harsher, it has no bearing on the damping force?
I went OME shocks (don’t have the model number to hand) which definitely took the harsh edge off speed bumps and pit holes. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |
