The variable torque spilt will certainly be driven by CO2/mpg - I hope it is as seamless as they say, because in my experience (the admittedly conceptually different) Haldex-style systems are not as sure-footed.

Is it any wonder that JLR are struggling?

I dread to think what the cost of change will be to switch over to the new engine and transmission set-ups so soon after development and launch. Not only in production, but also in all the support infrastucture like spare parts listings, workshop repair documentation, parts supply stocking, statutory approvals, etc, etc.

It is just another warning sign to me of a business out of control.

Same engine family, can’t see it being a big deal - look at the variety of powertrain options the Germans offer on the same platforms.

I’m sure also that this engine and set up was intended from the start so the car will be engineered to take it from day one.
The 6 cylinder Ingenium has been available in RRS and L405 (not sure about the Disco5) since April so it’s not like it is totally new to JLR. The torque vectoring system isn’t new to JLR either as my 2015MY RRS had it although I’m sure this is the next step on from that. One thing there has been issues with in RRS is a lot of leaking rear e-diffs so hopefully that is now solved. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Got a D240 and damn annoyed by this engine change so soon, not least as the D240 is barely enough for this vehicle; they must have known the 6 was coming when the vehicle was launched and could have offered the option to order for a later date. It is a con on early buyers. And mine has had to go back to the dealer twice, and has to go back again - low battery warnings, touchscreen not booting up, emergency braking/warning not working, media/CarPlay connection dropping off, locking wheel nut adapter missing, loud whistling from the A pillar (a service bulletin is out on that apparently).

That’s the joys of jumping first, I’m just lucky I wanted a 90 and had to wait.
