HI all.
Id like to appologise to anyone who has had slow support and email replys from me over the last month or two. This is due to me having a really bad back and extremely severe excruciating sciatic pain down my right leg and buttock, from what they say at the hospital they think is a crushed or torn dics in my lower spine, the MRI im waiting for will conform this they tell me. A few days ago had a steroid epidural nerve root injection (not nice) to try and help with the pain and inflmation of the nerve whilst continually taking over 50 tablets every day as i have done for the last month just to keep me mobile and stop me from just curling up in a corner screaming with pain. I hope to be slowley getting better, but i please ask you to forgive me if my relpys to pms, emails and phone calls are shorter than you would normaly expect from me. The continuous sleep less nights and very strong pain killers and nerve numbing drugs are just slowing me down more every day. Pete |

I am feeling you Pete. I am just getting over the same (not quite so severe though).
It took me 3 months of excruciating pain and slowly elevating the pain killer potency- wasn't much point as they did all to help. Barely walking, not sleeping, and had to sit still for 5 mins nearly ripping the steering wheel off the Defender every time I got in it....... Worse thing was taking 20mins to get my shoes on in the morning!! Now... my life is back on track thanks to Physio- The other week I did my first 3 km run and survived. I am getting the idea it will never go away completely as I have good days and bad days, but i do have my life back so am soo happy. Good luck, get better- it is just a matter of time and you will be up and about again, Glyn |

Does not sound good so hopefully you get back on track sooner rather than later. I know of other people with similar issues and they turned to acupuncture. Seems it helped them but it needed regular visits. Never tried it myself but I remember some years ago when I suffered from some serious pain, I would have run around the town naked to ease it if someone told me it would help! Funnily enough it was non conventional treatment that helped me over time.Anyway wishing you well. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Good luck with your recovery Pete.
It might help to see a good rehabilitation physio/personal trainer. NHS did not offer me any physio after ops on my knees. I was struggling to walk 100m/stand for 5 minutes. Rehab physio + personal trainer got me moving again. Might be worth considering Good luck and a speedy recovery. Brendan |

I had a desk job for years and had real back problems - falling to the ground in the middle of the street etc but since I started gardening I have had no problems at all

its no joke being in 24hr pain. Its something that you can't really understand either unless you've had it plus being a painkiller junkie to boot in order to see what combo works.
One positive thing though when you come out the other end (as you will and I did) is that you'll find reserves of strength that you didn't know you had. Get well soon Pete ! |
