I got back a month ago from a great trip down to Provence then back up through the alps, great trip in the old disco! Yours looks a little more off road than ours, we loved the alps the most...

On the way down, near Troyes, gorgeous lake

La Brigue on the Italian/French border, beautiful old French town, ex Italian!

At Passy, up in the hills above lake Passy, near Lac Vert, mountain bikes up to lac de pormenaz..
Great landies around..

‘Slumming it’ at the good ladies pied a terre in st Gervais les bains, a gorgeous old French hilltop town.
I’d be very interested in joining a group trip, such a fabulous corner of the world, Aosta is rather special too!..

^^^ 'in st Gervais les bains, a gorgeous old French hilltop town'. That's home, and I couldn't agree more.

I'd be happy to host/join anyone group that wanted to come to these parts. Best time of year is early Sept. Still warmer than a British summer, but not roasting hot. Clear skies, little rain, and most of the tourists have gone (although it does mean the retirees in their white boxes start making an appearance Big Cry ). Importantly though, the trails are open to 4x4s again, and by Sept even the highest passes should be free of snow. Although last week there was a dump down to 2400m Shocked . Trails will be mostly clear as Tour de Mont Blanc walkers will have, in the main, finished, and there's very little organised 4x4ing locally. Mainly trail and quad bikes. For example there is a day's loop we could do that passes the foot of this mountain, which includes a lovely spot for lunch. Dome du Miage.

Accom can be in chalets (a couple right next door to me would swallow 8-10 people and have loads of parking), a friend's rental apartment for 4-6, 'chez Grenadier' for 2-4, or a local campsite nicely situated up the valley. An overnight trip could also be organised. And finally, if it was later Sept, it could be a trip from here to Genoa, then a ferry to Barcelona, before heading to Las Comes for the Land Rover party.

Anyhoo, happy to see anyone and be part of a trip if any of you UK based types feel up to it. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....
