It is the weight of the spare wheel flexing the door away from the seal.

Thanks i thought it might be the spare wheel , wish were seal as i like the look of spare on back.

Maybe consider fitting a swing away wheel carrier? (Mantec or similar). The weight of the wheel will eventually do damage to your door and hinges if it is left on there.

Yes thanks there is that , i went to local fibre glass maker to make mock wheel to put cover over but wanted £200 to make OUCH . Nige

Have you checked your hinges for play? May be a worn hinge causing alignment trouble.
If all ok the simple solution might be to try a new door seal, but would recommend a LR seal, not aftermarket. This keeps it as is, which you say you prefer. |

Thanks for the info have checked no play in hinges will try and source genuine new seal and hope it works . thanks
