[Wanted] Vehicle fridge..
Hi there, after a great road trip round France ( just got back in time..!) realise that’s we really need to up our game on the refrigeration front from the powered cool box. I’d like a decent compressor fridge that doesn’t rely on a mains supply to get it cold.
Failing a used purchase, any recommendations on new?
I’m in salisbury but can travel/ organise a courier..
Cheers in advance..

Was just looking at them on the Halfords website myself and they have this small one at a decent price
https://www.halfords.com/motoring/travel-a...91085.html
I cannot comment on that one as have never needed one up to now but am looking too. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

That Halfords one is a piezo electric cool box rather than a proper fridge with a compressor. Darren

Engel would get my recommendation. i have a 45L one, had it 2nd hand approx 10years ago, never missed a beat. 12/24/240v auto switching. low current draw, about 4 days on my 110 before need to restart vehicle. (std battery) goes to -20 or so too. Cheers

I've got the National Luna Weekender 50L. As above does all the usual. Having the 10L freezer is a bonus, as this allows us to carry enough frozen food for 2 weeks for 2 people. I'm sure you can't go wrong if you pick any of the well known brands.

ARB 47l here. I bought mine used and it’s been great. All the proper fridges tend to keep their value so there may not be much of a saving over a new one. No issues with the ARB in 43C Spanish heatwave last year. No problem in the dust and corrugations in Morocco.

The other big advantage of a compressor fridge over the crappy thermoelectric ones is practically no condensation inside. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

don't rule out the cheaper brands such as bearmach and terrafirma own brands.

we run a small and large one of each brand without issue. both work as freezers and are used as standby units at home when needed. Bearmach 3 yr warranty is good as we had an older version fail (suspect it was dropped when we lent it to a mate for a camping trip) and they gave us a straight refund on it as they had stock of new ones.
the new ones are a tad bigger but work just the same.

I've had a 40l Snomaster for a couple of years have no complaints with it so far. It's used regularly in the back of the LR and during lock-down it became a freezer for the house. Seems well made and being able to change the lid orientation is handy, I like that you can set cut-out voltages so that it doesn't kill the vehicle battery and similarly, the remote control is useful to check all is working at a glance. Some people say it is power hungry but having never had an alternative brand I wouldn't know. The compressor seems to work considerably less when the insulated jacket is fitted to it though. 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

I have a snomaster.
Brilliant and it is very important.
I too traveled abroad and came home last friday.
The fridge means we have cold drinks and food if we need it.
