ECC have developed a Tesla powered Defender.
https://www.electricclassiccars.co.uk ECD are offering it as one of their conversions. https://ecdautodesign.com/ Here is the article with a video. https://ecdautodesign.com/2020/08/18/e-c-d...er-in-u-s/ We spent the day with it to make the video in the article and did a couple of green lanes. We picked it up at 07:30hrs and returned it at 16:30hrs, it still had 40% left in the batteries. 130's have feeling's as well you know |

I Contacted this company after they did the program with the EV Landy
"Hi, the full conversion starts from around £75k depending on which battery pack you go for." Now unsure on an LS3 conversion, I though it was around £30k from Wildcat, then say £5k brakes, £2K suspension, £3k Wheels and tyres. So around £40K That leaves a lot of cash left to fill up the LS3 While I agree its clever and the EV would be great..... its simply too much? While we can I would rather have the V8 until it becomes something else taken from us. |

Ouch, not likely to spend £75k.
I agree with Ads90 - £20k and I'd be thinking about taking the plunge. Not sure how possible that is though. |

Is this advertising ?
Rather unfair on Martin if it is. Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |

Not sure it is. I think Andrew made the video, not the car so unless he is advertising his video making skills I think he is OK.

Not sure either that that many of us will suddenly pick of the phone to have our Defenders electrified for a starting price of £75,000
Great idea it just has to be more affordable, a lot of forums and home Made electric powered cars where people have (usually classic cars) converted them to electrics, I'm guessing at a fraction of the price. |

Ok, I just felt like it was promoting EDC.
Maybe I'm just too cynical. Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |

What would road tax be?
Insurance will probably stay the same or increase! You will probably save on servicing! To buy converted defender or get your own converted ££££££ Electricity tariff will probably increase Need to factor in replacement battery cells as they go revel in the knowledge that source of EVs power is still at present powered by coal burning Don't mention the sourcing of lithium ore and abuse of miners Nearly forgot....disposing of old batteries So EVs...not for me |

Whilst I don't disagree with most of what you've said, this is bit is increasingly untrue:
The amount of electricity generated by coal in the UK is currently less than 4% and will be gone altogether by 2025. They appear to have converted to burning wood pellets shipped in a very environmentally friendly way from America........must be more emissions from the belching ship stacks than the power station?? |
