No worries. I just wanted to support my point of view.

My intention is just to inform some friends who share a common love for the defender about an invasion to Europe that is taking place right now under the silence of the European alies.

I know politics can be a dicey subject, but if you step back from this and ignore the headline about EU and the subsequent jibes that will bring. There is a very real and worthwhile discussion point here.

Mainly because 1 month before Covid I was busy making plans to tour and possibly relocate to either of said Countries (Greece/Turkey). Both have pros/cons and I'm not looking to get into that here. Merely discuss (civilly) ongoing situation with regards those areas.

The whole problem is included in the following part of the BBC article:

While Athens has called on Turkey to leave its continental shelf immediately, Turkey insisted last month that "islands that are far from the mainland and closer to Turkey cannot have a continental shelf".

Because our islands of Rhodes, Karpathos, Kastelorizo and other are far from Greek mainland and closer to Turkish mainland they must not have a continental shelf. An argument with which a 5 year old will laugh, completely out of line with any international legislation but still strong enough to cause a very real and very imminent war because Europe is divided and many European countries calculate that they have a lot to lose if they stand inline with international law but opposite to Turkish interests.

To further point how serious and tense things are, two days ago a Turkish frigate and a Greek frigate crashed and the Turkish one suffered severe damage.

Thank you my friend.

Luck is something we really need. And we also need to make this whole issue international.

A lot of people are suffering from Erdogan's way of conducting foreign politics. An otherwise great country driven by an insane administration.

Yesterday it was Syria and Libya. Today is Greece and Cyprus. Tomorrow who will be next ? Not only our borders but the foundations of western free way of life are under attack.

I thought that the Turkish economy had completely tanked last year, always money for conflicts though….

I saw yesterday that China has bought their way into Argentina and now taking sides with them over the sovereignty of the Falklands…… Rolling Eyes

Not sure what this has to do with the EU or Europe in general and The threat of Russia invading Ukraine is a more pressing matter on the world stage.

Greece and Turkey having a spat is nothing new and whilst important for those involved, is of little interest to anyone else, at least until people start dying.
