A flash of the hazards and I've waved Thumbs Up We were on our way back from camping in Wales Sheep Sheep Sheep You'll have seen our world (un)famous BarrowBQ on the roof. Picture to follow.

On our way west on Saturday around Swindon area M4 saw a 110SW with a beautiful old Airstream caravan. Anyone on here? Actually the roads were pretty full of Defenders this last few days, but waves were a bit thin on the ground.

We were up at Christcurch in the Forest O' Dean last week and there was a cracking airstream up there being towed by a Jeep.....looked superb

I am in the Clarkson camp - I HATE caravans, but Airstreams are something else. It's design. I HATE Vauxhall Zafiras. They hold 5, but so does our 110. Design is the difference. A cream fibreglass shed on a pathetic frame and wheel barrow wheels makes me feel sick, but the style and design of an Airstream would make me eat my words.

Thing is they cost a fortune. So that's that.

ArmyBob, are you really Defender-less? I do like the SMAX though. Why not get a Defender2 sticker for the back?I'd have spotted that and waved. What unsettles me is truckers who flash (without apparent cause) they make me think that the back door is hanging off or the ratchet straps on the roof have all come undone! I guess even truckers can be Defender fans.

Our camping trip was our first with children. Ben is 3.5 and Saff 1. It worked a dream they slept like logs and all was well until we had put them to bed on Monday and had to have a BarrowBQ in torrential rain. The rian clouds were out on Tues so we quit while we were ahead. Camping with children is brilliant. They love it. The golden rule is that watches and the clock are out of the window.

What I know I do now need is a proper awning. I've not had the chance to search for it yet, but someone on here posted pics recently of an awning on the Welsh coast on a beach after a mountain bike exped. One of those is for me.

Also another plug is a Dutch Oven and tripod I found on eBay: both brilliant quality, solid, good for purpose and good value. I'll post pics and links in due course.

Mines is a bit older though 2001 but all black with a patriot rack and gubbins, have just purchased an awning for the side

The disco was the wives car but it was proving too thirsty for the school runs, it's alright for you super sing lies glyn, with number four due in 7 weeks we have to make some sacrifices, I just got to save my pennies for one of the lock and fold seats from exe moor trim they ain't cheap, but safety comes first!

That must be a dream for you Zag! Double silver! Just imagine all the Autoglym they would need - what's more the Airstream has a box section chassis to rust as well - you could spend hours Zagging it.

Perhaps we should change your forum name to the mummyfier or formaldehyde - preserving metal for centuries to come Thumbs Up

I've got the awning in the picture above, it's made by Terrain 4x4 (I think). Used it round Europe last summer, cheap and cheerful but does the job well. Putting it up on your own is an art though Confused

I've now got an identical 110 to that shown in the photo as well, and I ride mountain bikes... weird. Looks like a fun time.

Oh and isn't a 'Dutch oven' shoving the missus' head under the covers after having passed wind? Embarassed
