That is downright dangerous and scary. I hope someone at LR sees the video as we all know what could have happened.... Shocking.

Well if Boeing could get the avionics algorithm wrong on the 737 Max, what hope for the cash strapped software developers within JLR? I do worry about all these complicated systems and what could happen if they kick in unintentionally when travelling at speed down the highway. |

Sorry but while it may or may not be true, I’ve seen so many convincing videos come out of that country that I later discover were made up propaganda to stir up it ours and various other countries, or to get us to behave in a certain way, that I don’t believe anything I see coming out of that country any more. Acctually the reviewer liked defender. He noted some problems - mostly software glitches and that scary hill roll. And hopes that it will be fixed. One other thing he noted - he was not able to close sunroof when car flexes with wheel in the air.

If there was body flex causing issues with the sunroof, wouldn’t the glass crack? Which has happened some other models.

I’ve had the sunroof issue with it not closing and the cure is to fully open the electrically powered sun blind, then close the glass and the sun blind will close itself when the car is locked or you press the close button. There seems to be a sensor that makes it think that you have only tilted the opening section because the roller blind only leaves about a 10cm section open when you just tilt the glass, but if you then open the glass fully without opening the blind too it doesn’t like the glass to close again if you get my drift.
Regarding the car rolling backwards....... I wonder if he pressed the brake pedal with the HDC engaged? Doing that can release the HDC which does work in reversing situations as well as descending forwards. With the all season tyres on too the treads must have filled with mud making them slicks so he was in effect skiing backwards down the hill on four tyres. As we all know physics plays a big part in the game with 2.3tonnes of car sliding. I’m not trying to make excuses for LR because obviously something went very seriously wrong and needs to be investigated by LR and the findings/ cure published for other users to be aware this might be an issue if offroad in mud on all season tyres on a very steep incline. Possibly cooked the DSC?
Which causes the Hill Start Assist to deactivate causing roll back. |

And poor performance, poor manoeuvrability, and inadequate brakes if I remember correctly. His test vehicle did seem to have a multitude of problems with the "infotainment" system. |

He must have got a lemon.
The brakes on my demo car would stop on a 10p piece and give you 9p change. |

I don’t understand where he finds the poor performance with the 240hp engine - on UK roads it’s more than adequate - maybe he’s worried that he won’t be able to get away from the KGB in their G63 G Wagens Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

He is in Ukrain. Threre are different car habits as in Russia. You should discount claims about poor performance, because good performance needs 5l supercharged V8 for them. G63 is how many there see perfect 4x4. In the same time, the guy boght Suzuki Jimny for himself. Fun car, but performance wise Defender is in different class.
