Emergency services livery.
Always loved the livery of a police, fire, RNLI Land Rover.

Have you tried warming up the decals to soften up the glue.? Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

I think you would be ok with mountain rescue orange squares, but keeping the blue and yellow squares from a police car I believe is the kind of thing that will get you noticed for all the wrong reasons. I think this is why they are stripped off before auction.

There was a Guy near me years ago who had a BMW bike with coloured squares which weren't exactly Police yellow and blue, but would give you the illusion it might be if you saw it in your rear view mirror. He whinged in the paper that they were there for his safety, but the Police were willing to prosecute for impersonating a Police vehicle if they didn't come off.

You are ok (technically) as long as the batenburg markings aren't reflective and don't have 'Police' or 'Ambulance' etc. That's how some of these security companies get away with blue / yellow batenburg.

The explanation of the road vehicle lighting regs covers it :

4.2 RVLR require that retro-reflective markings on the sides of vehicles that are intended to make the vehicle more visible must be amber in colour. Retro-reflective markings of other colours such as the blue, green or red schemes used in the battenburg pattern are currently prohibited unless the Secretary of State for Transport has issued an order under section 44 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (“a special order”).
