Don't know anything about the Deutz dx3.90 and assuming it has a conventional manual gearbox, if the gears worked before he replaced the seal, then I am guessing it is going to be something simple like the end of the gear selector rod not being correctly located in the selector shafts inside the box.
My bid would be to remove the plate where he replaced the seal and look at the selector slide positions. Then make sure when the cover plate is offered back up to the gearbox, the end of the gear selector rod is located correctly in the sliders. Without knowing the set up, it may be better to select neutral by carefully moving the gear selector sliders as he may have got the selectors out of alignment by moving the shift lever when it was not properly located. |
