I'm not sure. It's the factory fitted alarm. If a door is open when you click to lock the doors the doors lock but the horn sounds too. Is this a different horn to the normal steering wheel stalk operated horn then?

Dont have 2007 electrical diagrams, but on 2012 electrical diagram I see the horns are connected in a few different ways, I think it depends if you have the anti theft system or not.
Since you mention that you have factory backup alarm, then can you check if you have Relay Sounder Alarm (R200). Seems to me that relay and the Alarm Ecu are used to trigger the horns. Have you also checked if you have 12V before the horn switch all the time, and 12V after the horn switch when the switch is pressed? 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

If you don't have a battery backed alarm sounder you have a separate horn for the alarm, and in all the circumstances you describe this is what you're hearing, not the vehicle horns.
There is one vehicle horn adjacent to each headlight and it is likely that both have packed in. To access them remove the headlights (an easy screwdriver-only job). The horns have odd connectors on them but if you're not averse to changing the connectors there are plenty of good aftermarket horns from manufacturers such as Fiamm which can be fitted which are better value than genuine parts. |

Ah, that's actually encouraging to know that a different horn is used for the alarm.
I'll have a look at the horn behind a headlamp then. Does one horn feed on to the other? Which one is the first horn in the series? |

The horns are connected in parallel, so if one fails the other should still work. It is likely that both have failed, but check the wiring with a meter or test lamp before forking out for new horns. Usually you don't notice when the first one fails because they not exactly loud even when working, but you do notice when the second fails! Last edited by blackwolf on 7th Aug 2020 8:20am. Ok, so this afternoon I removed one horn and attached it to a battery...nothing.
So took a horn out of another vehicle and hey presto, working! |
