The offer is good for a dealer, yes, as they will need to mark it up a few thousand.

l've spent ages online over the past couple of months
looking at TD5 90 XS models.
Prices start at around £15,000 for good ones, but they all need some work doing. After all they are at least 15 years old. This one needs nothing, the buyer won't even need to spend anything on security products.
Plus any imperfections in the bodywork have been sorted, most have suffered a bit on the rear panels particularly. This one wasn't just sprayed over, the parts were (where possible) removed, treated, sprayed, and then riveted back on.

Also it's the lower rate road tax, and being a 2005 it's got the newer one piece doors.

I think anybody would be happy to have this as a keeper. I’d buy this over any Puma.

You say that, but try and find a good TD5 XS Station Wagon for that money. l spent ages looking last year and they all look nice in the adverts but need loads of work to get them sorted.

l guess it depends on how good you want it to be. l paid £15,000 for this one and it was fine, my missus drove it and said it seemed OK, but the rear door was bent behind the spare wheel, there was a fair bit of backlash in the transmission, the clutch was sticky when hot, the aircon worked but wasn't great, the differential seals were leaking, windscreen had stone chips, alloys slightly past their best, etc

Most people would have just lived with it, but sadly l am a perfectionist, to the detriment of my bank balance.

Take the deal.
Most private buyers would need finance. 18k from the dealer and you'd get some kind of comeback or warranty.
Not that it'd need it though. Looks lovely.
