Fitting a new exhaust....on the drive?
Well my new Demand engineering exhaust has turned up Mr. Green

Is it a DIY job to fit on the drive?

Piece of cake. Make sure you’ve got the right gaskets and an angle grinder will be helpful for the stubborn bolts!

On my 90 td5 it was doable but ther front and rear sections were a bit difficult to get in and over the rear axle. Roel

Def 90 TDCI. Fitted mine on the drive - needed to drop rear anti roll bar to fit rear section. Easy to remove old silencers by cutting through pipes in several places with angle grinder.

Very easy on a 110! I think I just had to remove a mud flap.

I only use paste if tubes go over each other but with a complete new exhaust it should be flanges that are bolted together so no paste needed. Roel

Removing and fitting the rear exhaust section is made easier by jacking and supporting the chassis on stands. This allows the rear axle to drop creating wiggle room.

Flange sections with gaskets should not need paste, if your exhaust has slip joint sections with clamps then a high temp silicon such as permatex ultra copper RTV silicon [url] https://www.permatex.com/products/gasketin...le=en[url] is so much better than a paste that hardens then breaks up. Plus you don’t need so much clamping force which avoids denting slip joints and aids removal at a later stage if required. Noting this is more of an issue with mild steel pipes with thin walls as opposed the harder stainless steel sections.

You can use this high temp silicon on flange joints in addition to gaskets if you want to be 100% certain , especially when connecting to an old flange that has corrosion.

Note: you do need to wait a few hours for the silicon to set before starting engine.
