I find it rather startling that someone who sells wheels etc didn't know all that already.
He clearly isn't a member on here, or if he is, hasn't read my post here on the subject of suspension geometry. I guess you're a bit stuffed if you need to run tyre chains on the new Defender (although it is probably so good and so full of electronic trickery that tyre chains are an anachronism)! |

Chains - most of the modern ones can take them, and IIRC it’s a requirement to have them in the Alps if you go on your winter skiing holiday even in a 4WD vehicle with winter tyres. Your friendly LR dealer will sell you some fancy snow grips to put on your wheels and these seem to be accepted when the RRSport guys head off for their skiing holidays. They aren’t shown as being available for L663 Defender but for the other cars in the range there are these for fitting to your rear wheels for a mere £611.........

This video is an embarrassment (coming from someone who owns a wheel company) and is only going to complicate peoples understanding of wheel fitments and how it affects their vehicle if they don't have prior knowledge.
Instead of explaining the technicalities on here it is best if you ensure with the place you are buying wheels that they will fit your vehicle. However, despite me saying this there are sadly still too many companies selling Evoque/Disco Sport wheels to fit Discovery 4/5 or Range Rover etc! (this wouldn't be an issue if those outlets realised that the wheels have a different pcd). For an outlet selling parts and genuine accessories (inc. wheels) I think PowerfulUK should remove this video as it is going to do them more hindrance than good! |
